This project included the renovation of the mechanical lift bridge at the entrance
to the reserve basin at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The span of this bridge,
which is visible from Interstate 95, can be raised to allow ships to pass. The work on this project involved selective structural steel replacement on
the truss span, complete suspension cable replacement, lead paint abatement
and elevator renovations. A new control system was also included in the work.
This system includes a main control operations console and all switches, devices,
and control and power cabling. Other work on this project involved main drive
and auxiliary motor rewinding as well as work related to weighing the bridge
and adjusting counterweights. |
