Julia De Burgos Bilingual Elementary School Philadelphia, PA

The new elementary school at Fourth Street and Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia consists of a newly constructed 3-story building with partial basement. Spanning the length of one city block, the new school contains classrooms, an auditorium, gymnasium, cafeteria, and related administrative support space. In addition to the construction of the new facility, several site improvements were also made. Among these improvements were the additions of driveways, parking, walkways, with a paved plaza and play areas. A new entrance ramp, loading facilities, fencing and lighting were also included in the improvements at the site. Plantings were placed to help improve the site aesthetic. The new elementary school at Fourth Street and Lehigh Avenue has a structural steel frame with precast concrete floor and roof slab with bituminous sheet roofing. Exterior walls are either cavity construction with decorative CMU, brick, corrugated metal panes at the exterior face, or curtain wall construction.
